Parent Teacher Organization
"Working together to achieve success for all students."
All PTO meetings are held in the school office. PTO meetings usually last about 30-40 minutes. All parents are welcome. Students are also welcome, if parents do not have babysitting. Dates and times for PTO Meetings are listed on the school calendar and on the home page of the website.
PTO is an organization that brings parents and teachers together to help provide students with the best possible experience while at Washington-Monroe School. The PTO is involved in planning and running many activities at the school. Many of the activities are described below. If you are interested in helping with any activities, please contact the school.
Each year the PTO puts on an open house and family cook-out the night before school starts. This event is for all Washington-Monroe families. We serve hamburgers and hot dogs. Students play on the playground with friends and get to visit their classrooms. Students are encouraged to bring their supplies and meet their teachers with their families.
Open House & Welcome Back Family Cook-Out
Parent - Teacher Conferences
PTO has a long standing tradition of providing dinner and breakfast for the teachers on the nights and mornings of Parent-Teacher Conferences. Families have been so generous over the years in making treats for our families on these long nights.
PTO holds two fundraisers each year. The first fundraiser is in the beginning of the year and for the last 10 years we have sold discount cards. During our spring fundraiser, we try many different things. Most recently we sold candy bars. The money we raise helps support school and student activities.
Each year in the spring, PTO puts on a week long event that involves activities and learning experiences. The theme for the week varies from year to year. In the past we have used these themes; France, China, Mexico, Space, and the 50's, to name a few. The theme for 2016 is the Olympics. We will have an Olympic speaker and learn about the Olympics through different lessons and activities.
Each year the PTO pays for a Christmas present for all students. The students are taken to the movie theater where they see a new movie, eat popcorn and sip on drinks. This tradition has become a great opportunity for many students and is one of the kids favorite days of the year.
The PTO has used the funds they earn to purchase many things for the school. Over the years, the PTO paid or helped pay for playground equipment, Promethean Boards, school supplies, classroom supplies, mulch for the playground and much more!
